Self-configuring Photonic Architectures and Algorithms

David A. B. Miller · 2019

By combining complex meshes of interferometers with photodetectors and simple feedback loops, sophisticated photonic systems can configure and stabilize themselves without calibration, and can be directly, progressively and adaptively trained to perform arbitrary linear functions. Key architectures and algorithms will be introduced and explained.
