Novel Matching Method for Automatic Iris Recognition Using SIFT Features

The object of interest of this paper is Automatic Iris Recognition. Our approaches extend the successful method based on the Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) proposed by Aly. We evaluate the Aly's method, and the Kepenekci approach. We have proposed a new extension to the Aly's method. Our approaches are evaluated on two iris datasets: UPOL and UBIRIS. We experimentally show that the proposed approaches significantly outperform the baseline Aly method and Kepenekci approach on both datasets.
