Maximizing Implementation of Manipulatives

At an NCTM regional meeting, I attended a session for teacher educators that raised our awareness that the manipulatives to which preservice and in-service teachers are exposed in methods courses are all too often not used in practice. This predicament is especially unfortunate in the early grades.
