Frequency Filtering of Source Images for LASER Engravers

Martin Jurek, Renata Wagnerová · 2019

This paper deals with image filtering in frequency domain and its effects in area of laser engraving. Current consumer cameras provide high resolution photos which contains dozens megabyte of data. It is not easy task to engrave all the data on wooden materials. Optimal image filtering can decrease production code size up to 30% while preserving quality of the final product. Modular script written in Matlab environment is used for multiple filter types comparison. Effects of frequency filtering to engraving quality and G-Code file size are described.
