Information Loss in Measurement Signal Filtering Systems

The process of measurement signal filtering is considered in this paper from the standpoint of information theory. The paper focuses on the quantitative evaluation of information loss that occurs due to a limitation of the spectral width of the filtered signals. The analytical expressions obtained in the paper give the relations between quantification of information loss and the parameters of filter frequency response and signal spectrum.
