With a growing research interest in experiential aspects of HCI, this study is aimed to explore how embodied thinking can guide designing meaningful interaction in the context of ambient media. Based on an interactive prototype Reading Door, experience tests are conducted. Thematic analysis indicates that bodily interactions with the prototype can activate embodied metaphorical mapping from the concrete action to the abstract meaning. The findings show that the embodied approach provides useful guidance for designing meaningful experience with ambient media.
