High Performance Programming for Computational Scientists

Greg Wilson · Kluwer Academic Publishers eBooks · 2005

The only thing that reliably increases programmer productivity is better working practices. Despite this, good practice is uncommon in industry, and almost unheard of in academic environments. One result of this is that computational scientists and engineers are encouraged by example to focus on the “hard” parts of computer science, when the greatest gns would come from the “soft” parts. This talk will look at how modern working practices can be made more accessible to the people who need them most, and is based in part on a software engineering course the author is teaching at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
