Motion Estimation plays a strategic role in a motion compensated video coding scheme. The block matching technique has been accepted by many video compression standards. Motion Estimation is the most computational severe part in the encoder. Due to its elementary influence on coding efficiency and its high necessities in both processing power and data bandwidth, the Motion Estimation algorithms optimization has been comprehensively studied for the last two decades.
