The performance of the HNN detector relatively to that of the OMD depends on the average number of local minima of the objective function in Eqn. (5) . If this average grows too fast with the size of the problem, then a very poor performance is expected in the demodulation of a large number tive function (3) we computed using exhaustive search, all the local minima for the number of synchronous users J( ranging from two to ten, by applying 1,000 tests for each case . The weak users&s; SNR was set to lOdB and the maximum near-far ratio was equal to 10 as before . The results are shown in Figure 1 (right).
