A Perceptron-Inspired Technique for Hardware Obfuscation

Outsourcing the manufacture of integrated circuits (IC) boosts efficiency in terms of production timeline and minimizing expenditures. However, it results in security challenges, as there is uncertainty in the reliability of the foundry that is responsible for the IC fabrication. With the primary objective to safeguard the process of outsourcing the chip, this work presents an innovative manufacturing approach that partially imitates the neural network perceptron, obfuscating the hardware design. The proposed technique not only obfuscates the design functionality but immunes the IC against Trojan insertion.
