Young children's use of an Augmented Reality Sandbox for spatial thinking through play.

This research describes how young children's spatial thinking was enhanced through the use of an Augmented Reality (AR) Sandbox for play. A mosaic approach to data collection was used to capture a single case study of a Reggio-inspired 4 and 5-year-old classroom. Four key themes emerged as to how the children used the AR Sandbox: Exploratory Play, Games, Representational Play, and Small Worlds Play. These findings are presented as a series of vignettes that storied the children's use and are accompanied by an interpretation that analysed the children's spatial thinking through play.
