Evaluation of a Multi-system Situation jan legters

Evaluation of a multi-system situation JAN LEGTERS In a control room the main computer system is used for monitoring and controlling the installation and the process. Other computer systems are in use, for instance systems for planning and processing, for quality control, and for monitoring the condition of equipment. In the 1980s, when most of the systems were developed, Hoogovens itself could specify the user interface. Thus additional systems were adapted to the main system, and the usability of all systems together in one control room could be more or less achieved. Today, however, systems are usually bought as complete packages, i.e. actuators, hardware and software including the user interface, so that Hoogovens has little or no influence on the specification of the user interface. Such systems can be very usable, but in the control room, among other systems, this is not guaranteed.
