Crotylation of (R)-2,3-Cyclohexylideneglyceraldehyde: A Simple Strategy for the Synthesis of Enantiopure anti-Alzheimer (R)-Arundic Acid

Dibakar Goswami, Angshuman Chattopadhyay · Letters in Organic Chemistry · 2006

(R)-Arundic acid 15 was prepared in a simple manner and with absolute optical purity via Cu and Fe mediated and Luches crotylation of 1 with bromides 6a,b. Co wasnt a good mediator for these crotylation reactions. The stereoselectivity for all crotylations were similar producing mainly 7b, c, besides a small amount of 7a. Keywords: Alzheimer disease, arundic acid, (R)-2,3-cyclohexylideneglyceraldehyde, crotylation, propargyl alcohol, stereoselectivity, ozonolysis, enantiopurity
