C++ TM Toolkit for DOS
Julio Sanchez, Maria P. Canton, William Perrizo · 2018
This chapter introduces aminimal C++ programming toolkit for developing space image processing applications. The toolkit, named Thematic Mapper_DOS, is compatible with Thematic Mapper images from the Landsat satellites. The chapter explores the C++ code call low-level routines that serve as device drivers. Although it is possible to implement low-level functions in C++, most programmers agree that it is easier and more efficient to develop the low-level routines directly in Assembly Language and to call them from the high-level code. The chapter shows that two examples of interfacing C++ and Assembly Language code. The first one is based on the use of C++ compilers by Microsoft or IBM, and the second one on Borland compilers. Microsoft’s and Borland’s versions of C++ have a common interface characteristic: the SI and DI machine registers are used to store the values of variables defined with the “register” keyword.
