C++ TM Toolkit for Windows

Julio Sanchez, Maria P. Canton · 2018

This chapter shows that the reader acquired an elementary level of Windows programming skills. It presents a minimal C++ programming toolkit for developing Thematic Mapper (TM) image processing applications in WinTMdows. Windows programming in C++ is fundamentally different than in DOS. The most notable contrast is that Windows is a graphics environment; the operating system provides many graphics services to applications. Windows programs must comply with a new paradigm in which code executes by means of a message-passing mechanism. It is difficult to say whether Windows application development is easier or more difficult than in DOS, but there is little doubt that it is more elaborate. The Windows toolkit was designed so that it would provide a minimal functionality for developing TM image processing application in Windows 95 and NT. Some of the methods and routines in the Windows library are identical, or very similar, to those in the DOS library, while others are different.
