IoT-Based Smart Surveillance: Role of Sensor Data Analytics and Mobile Crowd Sensing in Crowd Behavior Analysis
Sabu M. Thampi, Elizabeth B. Varghese · 2018
This chapter provides an extensive review of the various analytics methods from video as well as sensor data for Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart surveillance. It discusses the different video analytics methods for analyzing crowd behavior and detecting abnormal activities. The chapter demonstrates that the different approaches for sensor data analytics. It presents an outlook of various mobile crowd sensing approaches for crowd management. The chapter explains an extensive review on the analysis of IoT data for analyzing crowd behavior. Behavior analysis of an individual is possible in sparse and medium-density crowds but may fail in an extremely dense crowd. It also presents a wide variety of analytics methods for determining the behavior of the crowd. The outcome of this review demonstrates the need for algorithms and models to classify crowd behavior from multimodal data. The chapter concludes by presenting future work, including the essentiality of combining multimodal data.
