Decentralized digital identity management using blockchain and its implication on public sector

The purpose of this dissertation is to explore the Decentralized Digital identity management using Blockchain and its implication on Public Sector. The literature and latest reports suggests that Blockchain is one of the disruptive technology which will impact several segments of the industry to bring transparency and elimination of third parties. The research is to look further into existing digital identity management solutions and much greater insights into the emergence of decentralized digital identities and how they are going to impact the public sector to bring more transparency and confidence within citizens. At the beginning of the paper, researcher will focus to analyse the existing literature, journals, newspaper articles, academic books and industrial reports. The overall research is based on qualitative studies which involves multiple interviews with industry leaders who are either Blockchain technology consultants or working directly on developing digital identity management solutions. These interviews will provide the insights with an overview of evolvement of decentralized solutions and their impact on different industries with main focus on Public Sector. One of the objective is to understand whether decentralized identity management solutions based on Blockchain can replace the centralized one along with few more objectives.
