Network Synchronization Techniques for Dense Small Cell Cellular Networks

The paper provides an overview of improvement of the coverage and capacity of cellular network using many techniques, such as power control, MIMO, intra and inter base station and SDMA, and also of network synchronization techniques. Long-Term Evolution (LTE) release 10 and LTE 12 focus more on small cell enhancement. Heterogeneous networks are very important topic of 3GPP LTE-advanced. Clock synchronization IEEE 1588 is a practical solution to improve the problem-related synchronization. Most important LTE 230 is designed for the smart grid which is used to transfer the information through wireless media using synchronization signal. The details of existing network synchronous techniques, an improved design and algorithm and their limitation in small cell networks are described.
