Analysis of Performance Behaviors of Grid Connected Clusters
Philip J. Sokolowski, Daniel Grosu, Chengzhong Xu · 2005
Users of parallel computing systems must consider the real-life performance, e±ciency, and costs of such systems. As clusters of heterogeneous parallel systems converge through Grid connectivity and as applications mature to incorporate native Grid protocols, the overall costs of Grid enabled sites will diminish. Further, when both tightly coupled clusters and loosely gathered Grids are available, a cost-e®ective organization will execute applications with minimal performance degradation over wide-area networks on Grids, while reserving clusters for applications with high communication overhead.
