Exemplar-based Inpainting under Boundary Contraction Constraints

Image inpainting is to repair target regions such damaged regions or an object that you want to remove. Exemplar-based technique cannot find suitable similar patch sometimes when find matching patch using only color distance. Our work is to improve exemplar-based technique. The main work includes: (1) adding boundary-constrained similar patches to find more suitable similar patches; (2) boundary filling instead of patch filling, reducing the possibility of misfiling; (3) searching for similar patches in four rotation directions to find more suitable similar patches. The experimental results show that the proposed repair method can repair structural and texture complex images very well.
