Network Automation for Design, Build and Operation at Scale

Travis Grahek, Andrew Leong · Optical Fiber Communication Conference · 2019

Network Automation is important to operating a global network scale. Automation of a complex network requires a common abstracted model for the entire transport network, intent based configuration and standardization of design and deployment rules Network Automation of the end to end pipeline capturing Design, Build and operate should enable the following: • Autonomously capture state changes between the current and planned network and provide the required configuration to implement the state change. • Support multiple future network states and phased deployments, without impacting current network topology and design. • The system should support at will element rebuilds to ensure device compliance and the maintenance of an accurate network model, with no service impact.
