Progress and Application of 3DVSP in Shengli Oilfield

3D VSP is a special seismic technology. For 3DVSP, the sources are located on the surface while the receivers are put in the downhole. Due to only one travelling path through the near-surface, higher resolution seismic signal can be easily acquired than 3D surface seismic technology. After nearly ten years of 3D VSP study, geophysical research institute of Shengli Oilfield has obtained great advancements in polarization filtering based on floating coordinate system, common reflection point gather velocity analysis, wave equation prestack depth migration. 3D VSP processing software system has been built and is applied in three blocks of Shengli Oilfield and other oilfield, which solves the problem of identification and characterization of low-order faults around wells.
