Availability Test of Automated Teller Machine Based on Eye-Tracking Data

Junjie Xu, Ying Wang, Fuqiang Lv · 2018

Eye-tracking data were applied to conduct an availability test for a high fidelity prototype of automated teller machine interface. And these availability problems were also evaluated by a system usability scale and a post-interview for 21 subjects. These subjects were divided into two groups: the elderly and the young. Each group was tested on the performance of using the prototype to obtain the data of effectiveness and efficiency. Gaze plots and heat map were used to comparatively analyze eye tracking data. Results indicated that the holistic availability of the existing interface was at a low level. Both groups were not satisfied with completion rate and efficiency. The elderly group was much worse at the completion rate, efficiency and especially the satisfaction.
