Multichannel Filters for Wireless Networks: Lookup-Table-Based Efficient Implementation

We present an efficient multichannel finite impulse response (FIR) filter that uses the lookup-table (LUT) method. The size of the LUT is reduced by a factor of 8 over conventional LUTs by using Booth recoding, odd-multiple storage, and antisymmetric-product coding (APC) methods. The proposed multichannel FIR filter architecture provides up to 35% reduction in the power-delay product (PDP) over the existing architectures. The proposed strategy could be very useful for applications relating to IEEE Standard 802.15.4.
