Improving the Quality of Web Applications Through Targeted Usability Enhancements

In the competitive software industry, companies are starting to see the advantage of investing in user-oriented, as opposed to technology-oriented, products in order to attract or preserve their users. A piece of software might function exactly as specified in the requirements, but it may not be fit for use. This article is for product managers, developers and quality assurance engineers alike, as well as all those united by a fervent desire to improve the quality of their software. Qualitative and quantitative user experience metrics may be difficult to obtain without significant investment, but an initial redesign of a software product has been proven to more than double its usability, provided it was performed by analyzing the input of a user-centric assessment.
