Encryption and decryption is necessary to secure data from different types of security attacks. In this paper we have developed a new image encryption algorithm that is based on three dimensional cat maps, diffusion, transformation and xor operations. First of all the positions of image pixels is mixed by using three dimensional cat map and on the other hand chaotic map is used to complicate the association amid the plain image and cipher image. Next, diffusion by exclusive operation plus modular operation is used to spread the effect of single bit of the plain image all over the cipher image. Further, Transformation is used to represent pixels into complex form.
