Software-Defined Networking technology that separates the control plane and data plane can also be the target of Denial of Service attacks. Denial of Service attacks tries to damage the network architecture by weakening the Software-Defined Networking controller. Intrusion Prevention System as a solution to the prevention of this attack has an application called Snort that can detect every incoming data packet and block the attacking host. However, Snort cannot adapt to the frequency and type of attack. In this research Snort on Intrusion Prevention System was integrated with the Genetic Algorithm so that the duration of the block can adapt to the attack. Intrusion Prevention System utilizing Genetic Algorithm was able to overcome Denial of Service attacks by blocking attack hosts with an average speed of 0.0278 seconds in one execution. Blocking that is done can also adapt to the frequency and type of attack so that the Software-Defined Networking controller can work properly.
