Essential programming concepts: the redesign of the introductory programming course

Enrollments in Computer Science programs have dropped sharply since 2001 at all levels of higher education throughout the nation. The presenters will discuss roadblocks to student success and interest in Computer Science. The discussion will include the innovative techniques and strategies they have employed at their respective colleges to succeed in the face of this challenging trend and demonstrate a tutorial developed to support this initiative.
