Predicting Database Designer Potential with the Berger Aptitude for Programming Test (B-Apt)

Douglas B. Bock, Susan E. Yager, Anne Powell · Journal of Computer Information Systems · 2003

This research evaluates the usefulness of the Berger Aptitude for Programming Test (B-APT) metric as a predictor of entity-relationship (E-R) modeling skill for business database designers. The findings indicate a positive correlation between B-APT results and E-R modeling skill. From a practical perspective, this finding indicates that business managers can incorporate use of the B-APT as a potential success indicator when screening computer information technology professionals for selection as database designers.
