Prominent Information Centric Networking Architectures - Content-Centric Networking and Named Data Networking have joined hands together to design a better networking structure. Researchers are still working to eliminate various problems being faced in the implementation of these architectures where fighting congestion in these architectures is a big issue since they rely on new characteristics compared to TCP/IP protocols. This paper discusses various congestion controlling mechanisms and schemes in NDN/CCN, and evaluates the mechanisms based on their techniques of congestion detection, congestion control, and their advantages and disadvantages.
