The 2007 amendment of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard [1] includes an Ultrawide Band (UWB) physical layer. It relies on spreading the RF energy over more than 500 MHz with the advantage of high resilience to multi-path propagation and precise time of arrival estimation. A major drawback of UWB is the lack of standard MAC layer.
