WiMax is a leading wireless broadband technology, supports fixed (IEEE802.16d) and mobile (IEEE802.16e) connectivity. WiMax Technology covers a large area, along with maintaining a better quality of service and a secure communication compared to WiFi. Version 2 of the PKM protocol is an advancement of Version 1 of PKM but is still vulnerable to the man in the middle (MITM) attack and denial of service (DOS) attack and people have used Diffie Hellman Process (DHP) and Elliptic Curve Diffie Hellman (ECDH) to mitigate the problems associated to the initial entry procedure. In this paper we have tried to address the security issue associated with WiMax by enhancing the secure initial entry network procedure (SINEP) for initial network entry for WiMax by mitigating the problem of handover process over Elliptic Curve Cryptography.
