Development of a self-powered vehicle detector : final report

J. F. Scarzello · ROSA P · 1978

This report presents the prototype development of a Self-Powered Vehicle Detector (SPVD) .The SPVD was developed to eliminate the lead-in or interconnecting cables associated with conventional vehicle detectors. The SPVD consists of a roadway sensor and a roadside receiver with inter- face and decoding circuitry. The roadway sensor detects and transmits vehicle passage or presence data to the roadside. The specific elements of the SPVD discussed in this report include: sensor (magnetometer), FM transmitter, microstrip antenna, and digital encoder/decoder circuitry development. The report also includes FM receiver and sensor power source (battery) evaluations as well as SPVD fabrication schematics, drawings, and printed circuit artwork.
