Graphic equalizers are commonly used in sound enhancement because of their low computational complexity, low latency, and ease of use. Rämö introduced a high-precision graphic equalizer based on a parallel filter structure. When the number of pole frequencies is twice the number of command points, this graphic equalizer design can reach superior accuracy. This paper proposes a method to optimize the pole number of the equalizer by setting an error threshold. This proposed method can reduce the filter order of the equalizer while maintaining relatively high accuracy. When the scale factor of error threshold is 1, the total filter order can be reduced by 27.5%.
