A Method for Representing Mathematical Expressions as Words in Natural Language

In this paper, we propose a framework for a system that correctly selects words that refer to mathematical concepts used in a mathematical expression that is entered, in order to help mathematical novices understand the expression. Our system processes data formatting for MathML Presentation Markup, pattern matching for the structure of mathematical expressions and the selection of appropriate words corresponding to mathematical symbols.
