Computation of distance transforms on images have attracted much attention due to its importance in medical imaging and applications. In this paper we show a linear time implementation of Euclidean distance transformation for medical imaging, which was introduced by Felzenszwalb [1]. The implementation is done in 3D Slicer as a new Python module. Our implementation could be used for medical purposes such as medical imaging registration, biomechanical studies of joints, or surgery path planning. In contrast to other distance transformations algorithms in 3D Slicer, this algorithm produces the exact squared EDT for arbitrary dimensions using sample function, that deal with the arbitrary values on grid (real image values) instead of binary values
