Semantical Input in the Visualization Process
Florian Schröder · TUbilio (Technical University of Darmstadt) · 1991
This work has to investigate the aspects of graphics input in systems for scientific visualization. Concepts have to be elaborataed to incorporate semantical input in the visualization process. This concerns the design of an input pipeline with corresponding data structures and the configuration and management of input devices with adequate echos. In particular, multi-dimensional input devices (e.g. SpaceBall) and 3D-cursors must be supported in order to allow an user-friendly interaction. The realization of the concepts will base on existing environment for scientific visualization (apE). Modular input components have to be developed and integrated in this system. The modules have to be evaluated with different types of application data (e.g. 2D, 3D, scalar, vector, grid data, geometric objects). This work will be realized in cooperation with the Ohio Supercomputer Graphics Project at the Ohio State University in Columbus, USA.
