AES-GCM is a prominent algorithm used for data transmission over network, providing data confidentiality and confidentiality. This paper proposed an energy-efficient parallel software implementation of AES-GCM with a lock-free synchronization method. It decouples the dependency between encryption and authentication of AES-GCM, and achieves higher throughput by executing on two separate cores. Moreover, since the computational time of the two phases is unbalanced, lower energy consumption is achieved by reducing the frequency of one of the cores without affecting the performance of entire AES-GCM. The experimental results demonstrate that, the parallel AES-GCM exhibits much better performance and energy-efficiency.
