Kinetics of take-up and let-off motions

The take-up motion has the objective of taking of the cloth as it is woven during the loom working. The take-up motion must ensure uniform pick spacing or uniform density of weft depending on the use of positive or negative take-up motion. The shed is completely open when crank is at back centre and the beat of the weft inserted by picking takes place when crank or reed is at front centre. The rate of cloth withdrawal is controlled by the “take-up” motion, and its function is to maintain equal pick spacing throughout the cloth and keep the cloth fell in its correct position. In both conventional and un-conventional weaving uniform pick spacing is most desirable. The variation in pick spacing may be caused by one of the following reasons of combination of two or over all the factor that may contribute to the fault: the take-up motion; the let-off motion; and machine stoppage.
