The Usable Security Protocol Methodology: Define, Identify, and Develop

Christina Braz, Ahmed Seffah, Bilal Naqvi · Auerbach Publications eBooks · 2018

This chapter starts with an overview of the usable security protocol methodology, its steps, goal, and the logistics behind each step. Each step of this protocol is explained, and finally, at the end, it is shown how all steps fit together to provide an inspection tool for the design of user authentication methods which is named Usable Security Symmetry. The task scenarios&s; descriptions and a list of goals, methods, and operators for each user authentication method category are described throughout this current step. Much of the work in analyzing a user interface consists of specifying the actual steps that users carry out in order to accomplish goals, so describing the methods is the focus of the task analysis. What the authors are more concerned with is an investigation of the authentication elements of the tasks scenarios. The task scenarios’ descriptions and a list of goals, methods, and operators for each user authentication method category are described throughout this current step.
