It's been a common occurrence for a very long time — the confrontations that too frequently occur at the end of a hotly contested athletics competition. One or more fans taunt a player, coach, staff member, or administrator, which often incites an emotional response in the heat of the moment. Frustration, disappointment, and anger about the outcome of the competition and the nature of the insult inevitably fuel an acidic and pointed retort.
