Structural Equation Modeling: Overview

Randall E. Schumacker · Encyclopedia of Statistics in Behavioral Science · 2005

Abstract Structural equation modeling (SEM) software programs analyze theoretical models using a sample variance–covariance matrix, although a correlation matrix with means and standard deviations for the observed variables can be input because these values can be used to create a variance–covariance matrix. A LISREL‐SIMPLIS program is given below to illustrate how the theoretical model and sample data are included in a SEM program.
