Since density of 802.11 devices has shown fast increase, starvation has become serious problem for 802.11 networks.Although there are several existing channel allocation algorithms for 802.11 networks, these algorithms still have difficulty in dealing with starvation problems. To improve user experience in dense environment, solution of starvation problem is essential. In this paper, we propose a new channel allocation algorithm which is able to relieve starvation problem efficiently. While LCCS and Hminmax set their main purpose as sum throughput maximization, this new algorithm has its aim on relieving nodes suffering from starvation. This new algorithm reduces the occurrence of the two types of starvation, carrier sense starvation and hidden node starvation, i and improves the system fairness.
