Makerspaces in education offer design based learning environments in which students can construct and build ideas using physical and digital tools and materials. Though there is growing excitement around the learning possibilities inherent in makerspaces, and significant research on makerspaces in informal spaces such as libraries and museums, there is limited research-based evidence to inform thoughtful implementation of makerspaces in the complexity of formal school settings.
