Resource Management Challenges in the Next Generation Cloud based Systems: A Survey and Research Directions

Traditional resource management techniques for the conventional cloud computing systems will not be able to meet the QoS required for the IoT connectivity applications, big data analytics applications, and cognitive computing applications. Toward the next generation edge clouds, this work analyzes the dissimilarities of resource management issues between conventional cloud computing and edge cloud computing systems. In addition, we provide a classification and a summary for the resource management challenges of the next generation cloud based systems. Finally, the future research directions are highlighted.
