Distance Learning System for Meteosat Data Investigation

In this paper a distance learning system for Meteosat data investigation is described. The main objective of the system is to provide a specialized learning material related to the investigation of satellite data, namely Meteosat for students, young scientists and other interested people. The system consists of the following components (learning modules): Meteosat mission and satellite data; GRID technology description; methods for satellite data processing based on random Markov fields (RMF [BES1974]) and neural networks (namely, self-organizing Kohonnen maps (SOKM) [HAY1999]).
