Intelligent Tutoring Systems and Transparency: The Case of Children and Adolescents

Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) can use AI to achieve personalized education, leading to Student's interest in capturing and motivation, thus resulting in superior learning results. Such ITS are considered optimal for privacy-related research, under GDPR's scope. As such, paper combines Informatics with Legal Science; primarily in mapping conflicts between ITS and GDPR, focusing on the case of minors and the transparency principle implementation; subsequently in providing solutions, applicable to developers. A self-developed ITS system serves the role of test bed, facilitating the examination of GDPR's compliance; in specific compliance with the GDPR's elements of information, access, erasure and consent of children or parental responsibility holders.
