Mobile Ad hoc networks have features of high-speed mobility, dynamic topology changes, and frequent link failures. For these features, we propose a queue management mechanism of discarding packets actively based on DropTail, and apply the new queue management mechanism to AOMDV multipath routing protocol. We use cross-layer design pattern and propose QE_AOMDV multipath routing protocol based on AOMDV to improve link pressure. From the perspective of load balancing, in route discovery, the node obtains the real-time length of the queue buffer and determines whether it can participate in the transmission. Select the minimum accumulation of queue buffer length, that is, the path with the least link pressure as the primary path to transmit data. In route maintenance, the route repair mechanism is started by monitoring the length of the queue buffer in real time. Simulation results show that compared with the original AOMDV protocol, the improved QE_AOMDV multipath routing protocol has higher throughput, lower end-to-end delay, and lower packet loss rate. It improves overall network performance in multinode simulation and multi-rate simulation.
