Playfair Square is an encryption scheme that is manual and symmetric in nature. It was invented back in 1854 by Charles Wheatstones. It was so strong and convenient that it was even used in the governmental and military purposes. But with the advancement of technology, there came up certain issues in the algorithm. The algorithm could be broken by simple brute force using a system. Also, it accommodated only the 25 alphabets of English language, skipping one alphabet. But it was so easy for the intended party to use. So, with the idea of enhancing this algorithm, this paper presents the dual encryption on it as well as to secure it further using genetic algorithms, the main idea behind it being to bring the algorithm back into practice as it is, till date, among the fastest algorithms to encrypt small and urgent data.
