Wireless sensor network (WSN) has become much popular in many applications now-a-days such as healthcare monitoring, smart home, smart city, weather service, target tracking, forest fire detection, military applications and so on. WSN faces many challenges and limitations in term of processing, storage, memory, scalability, security, availability etc. To resolve such issues, Sensor Cloud (SC) has become part of today's research. Sensor cloud is the integration of WSN with cloud computing. It offers multiple applications running on each sensor node concurrently with the help of virtualization. In this way, sensor resources are shared to execute multiple applications at the same time. If we want to know the status of a particular position of a node in traditional WSN then one has to consider the positions of all nodes which is a time consuming process. Virtualization helps to minimize the time in such case. There are several such benefits of using sensor cloud which are described in this paper.
